This charming and eclectic Kenwood residence was limited by a traditional layout common to homes of the early 20th century; a poorly laid out kitchen and family room, limited by an antiquated coal fireplace and service stair. Our team was engaged to bring a greater sense of order and flow to the home for an active family with three children. The U+B design removed the back stair and the fireplace to accommodate a new, functional and spacious kitchen complete with an internal dining niche. The family room and office area are now open to the kitchen creating a welcome and open social space for the family. Materials were selected to blend seamlessly with the older home while complementing the new open light-filled space.
