Papagayo Peninsula, Costa Rica
This sea-side villa was designed to embrace the local Costa Rican environment and maximize views of the surrounding Papagayo Peninsula and the Pacific. The large overhangs provide needed shade from the tropical sun while the large sliding window walls open throughout the house to maximize cross-breezes. Inside, a large green wall of local tropical plants, channels of water in the floor and clear glass railings further enhance the transparency between interior and exterior. U+B worked hand in hand with Martha Dayton Design to develop the interior palette of Venetian plaster, limestone and sustainable teak doors and millwork.
